I was very impressed with the standard of art work that Sue parker displayed when i looked through her portfolio.
Whilst viewing a commission of a conservatory she had recently completed, i could not believe that the sections of balustrade detailed were painted, they looked so real!
Over coffee, an idea soon emerged of what i would like painted onto my conservatory wall. I explained to sue that the mural needed to be quite minimal to fit in with the rest of the house.
I wished for it to provide me with a view to look at whilst in the kitchen at the sink area so it needed to be something that I would not get tired of looking at every day. It had to stand the test of time.
We talked about colours, themes and positioning and from this decided on a Panoramic view of a tropical sea, looking out from over a balustrade, with palm trees to each side.
Sue went away and came back with a scaled down version so that I could really visualise what it would look like, and see if I wanted to make any changes- which i didn't as it was perfect. She had managed to capture my thoughts completely.
The end result was fantastic. the balustrade blends in with the floor tiles and makes my whole conservatory look as though it is a terrace looking out to sea.
It has also made the space appear much larger due to the optical illusion that it creates. Friends and visitors to my house always comment on how good it looks and how original it is.
I will never go back to my blank wall, as every time I wash up, or relax in my special room - I am transported to foreign climes.

"Both Projects have been aimed at improving our school environment, and have involved the pupils in all aspects of the work.
The project outline was to design and paint a mural for a large wall in the playground.
I organised a competition with the children to create a design for the mural. Froim entries Sue and I chose designs that she then used within her overall design. Some elements of the design were interactive. She submitted the design for approval and then we then blocked in dates for her to work at the school.
Sue worked in school over a period of a term to complete the mural. Pupils were involved painting parts of the mural under her direction and supervision.
She had a good relationship with all the pupils and was able to talk to them about her college course and career plans.
It was an extremely worthwhile project in terms of individual pupil development as well as enriching the curriculum.
The finished murals are an excellent addition to our environment and admired by visitors and pupils. "

"Sue Parker is a perfectionist in her painting. I found her very enthusiastic, she gave us some great ideas as we were unsure of what we wanted. She enhanced our conservatory with her beautiful designs, and we were very pleased with the end result."
